Baked apples

Baked apples are apples with the cores removed, packed with a dried fruit and cinnamon filling and baked in the oven. They are a simple, tasty dessert popular during the autumn and winter months and can be prepared in minutes.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 2 Bramley apples (about 250g each)
  • 40 g raisins
  • 10 g muscovado sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Mix the raisins, muscovado sugar and ground cinnamon.
  • Carefully remove the cores from the apples.
  • Make a horizontal cut the whole way around each apple using a sharp knife.
  • Place the prepared apples in an ovenproof bowl.
  • Pack the raisin, cinnamon and sugar mixture into the space where the cores have been removed.
  • Bake at 180°C, 350°F, gas mark 4 until cooked through (abut 20 to 30 minutes).
  • Serve hot.
