Mulled wine or spiced wine is red wine which has been heated gently and infused with warm spices and fruit. It can be prepared in minutes and is perfect for sharing with family and friends over the festive period.

1 bottle red wine 1 orange 1 tablespoon honey 3 cm cinnamon stick 2 cloves
Cut the orange into slices (with the peel still on) and place in a large saucepan.
Add the wine, honey, cinnamon stick and cloves.
Heat gently and simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes.
Remove a small amount, allow to cool and check for flavour. Add more spices or honey to suit your taste.
Pour into a heat resistant bowl and serve warm with garnish of your choice.
