Make your own caster sugar at home from granulated sugar. Within minutes you will have a supply of fine sugar ready to use in your sweet baking recipes.
What is caster sugar? Caster sugar is extra fine sugar, or superfine sugar, which has smaller sugar crystals than granulated sugar.
It is lighter than granulated sugar and is ideal for making cakes including almond slices, chocolate banana muffins and Bakewell tart.
It also dissolves more quickly than granulated sugar making it suitable for recipes such as French lemon tart, apple custard tart, lemon drizzle cake and lemon drizzle cupcakes.
It is useful to know how to prepare your own caster sugar in case you run out or if the shops in your area do not stock it. And in some cases it can be better value for money too.
