Homemade food gifts for Christmas

11/10/2024 by Judith Leave a Comment

Take a look at this collection of homemade food gifts for Christmas including chocolate dates, truffles, marmalade and shortbread biscuits. Whether you are looking to make a chocolatey treat, creamy fudge or homemade preserves to gift to family or friends you may find something here you wish to make.

Several jars of homemade Seville orange marmalade and some segments of fresh orange.

For the chocolate lovers out there you could make a chocolate salami, a fun gift which resembles a traditional salami but is made with chocolate ganache, nuts and broken biscuits. Or you could pack a gift box with homemade truffles such as rum truffles, chocolate banana truffles or white chocolate truffles, each of which are easy to make. And you could add a few chocolate dates which are filled with crystallised ginger.

And for those with a sweet tooth why not make some creamy vanilla a walnut fudge or some rum and raisin fudge. Or you could bake a batch of chocolate orange shortbread, walnut shortbread, make your own brandy snaps or make and decorate some festive gingerbread biscuits.

Or if you are looking to make a useful gift you could make a batch of Seville orange marmalade which is perfect spread on hot buttered toast. This easy marmalade recipe is suitable for long storage and so will keep for several months. Similarly, this tomato chutney recipe and this recipe for caramelised red onion chutney are practical gifts which will last several months.

For an extra special Christmas gift you could make a traditional British Christmas cake. The good thing is that it can be made several weeks or months before Christmas and fed with alcohol to keep it moist. You can gift it as a simple rich fruit cake or decorate with marzipan and icing.

So whether you are looking to make homemade food gifts which are quick and easy, or something slightly more ambitious such as a Christmas cake, this may help you in your search for gift ideas.
