Autumn dinner and lunch recipes

From savoury quiches to hearty soups now is the time to try one of these recipes using seasonal fruit and veggies.

Use some of your fresh produce to make a vegetarian quiche or tart such as this rustic cheese and tomato galette, a courgette quiche, this red pepper and fennel quiche or a fig and feta tart.

Autumn sees the start of soup season. Soups are a perfect way to make the most of seasonal vegetables especially when combined with herbs or spices, either fresh or dried, such as in this recipe for vegetable minestrone soup, sweet potato and ginger soup or butternut squash soup with chilli.

Homemade preserves

Autumn is good time to stock your cupboards with homemade preserves to enjoy over the months ahead. If you have a glut of homegrown produce or are able to buy seasonal produce at a good price then all the better.

Homemade jams and chutneys are far tastier than their shop bought equivalents, and usually last much longer too so long as the jars have been cleaned and sterilised. They are also a great homemade gift idea.
